Definition of “mould” by Spec Services: Mould (or mold in American English) refers to a type of fungus that grows in the form of multicellular filaments called hyphae. Moulds thrive in moist, warm environments and can grow on various surfaces, including walls, ceilings, food, and organic materials. They reproduce by releasing tiny spores into the air, which can settle on surfaces and start new colonies under the right conditions.
Mould can be harmful to both property and health. Prolonged exposure to mould can cause respiratory issues, allergic reactions, and other health problems, especially in individuals with weakened immune systems, asthma, or allergies.
In the context of cleaning, mould removal typically involves identifying the source of moisture, thoroughly cleaning and disinfecting affected areas, and taking steps to prevent future growth by controlling humidity and improving ventilation.
